White Light Shadow

Lost in the shadows of my mind

Thoughts break like waves

And retreat

Pulling a part of me with them

Sand and pebbles dragged under water

Clouding my thoughts, suspended particles

Swirl furiously, then settle

Residual fog persists within

My mind, the ocean

Close my eyes, listen to the waves

Determination building

They crash

My mind, the shoreline

Strewn with flotsam

Twinkling treasure catches my eye

Shrouded by broken promises

The wreckage of life

Draws you down

Dark deep waters, no glimmer of light

Lifeless, stagnant

Silence falls, hope fades

Floating, sinking

Into the abyss

The fissures in your mind

A chasm of lost dreams

Shadows shield

Your bright, white light
