Quiet Solitude

Restless sleep dawns early mornings

Mind’s anxiety churning

Indecision, trapped within confines

Warm sheets bring no comfort

Laid rigid with uncertainty

Of what the day will offer

Hands drag slowly round

Minutes gone, and then hours

Shadows roll over walls

Confirm the advancing day

Time passes, moving through treacle

Perception conflicts with reality

Fading light as eyelids flicker

Hazy images blur, darkness falls

Closed tight against brightness

A cloud shading the noon sun

Senses at peace, breathe in

Quiet solitude, breathe out
