Winter Poems

New Life

Fresh green shoots emerge

from winter’s blanket of snow

Buds unfurl, new life

explodes in vibrant colour

Winter Blizzard

Dark skies heavy with expectation

Flurries of snow swirl before your eyes

Alighting on shrubs and trees

Covering roads and fields

A dizzying vision, obscuring contrast

Earth’s rich palette dulled to white

Moon’s Glow

Night sky flecked

with the glowing

embers of stars

Crisp, clear air

brightened by moon’s

gossamer light

White covered

earth, a lustrous

dazzling shield

Footprints in the Snow

I pause awhile and look around

Trees line my way, their branches heavy

Before me, stretching into the distance

Pristine snow lies undisturbed

I contemplate beauty and serenity

The glistening wonder, a path laid by nature

The fragility of perfection so easily marred

Tainted by footprints in the snow

Radiance

Winter sun’s rays

blinding our eyes

Reflections glaring

bright white snow

Twinkling icicles

glint as they sway

Shining droplets

fall as they melt
