My (no) running (at all) week (9)

Welcome to another Sunday dear readers and to my running update post.

Sadly due to injury I have been unable to run at all this week and the situation will probably be the same next week too. However, my sprained foot is slowly recovering using rest, ice, ibuprofen gel and paracetamol for the pain. The swelling is going down, the pain is less and I’ve done a lot of knitting!

I don’t know how many times I’ll need to injure myself before I realise that resting is the only way to recovery as last week I was adamant I’d keep walking on it. Not overly far, just a couple of miles a day, but that was probably still too much.

I have been to the pool twice this week, on Monday and Thursday, completing a slow 1km breaststroke on each occasion. I also attempted a water aerobics class but that was pure foolishness so gave up after a few minutes.

Yesterday, I was gigging with my samba drumming band supporting International Women’s Day, which was fabulous as always, and only a little painful on my foot. But I dutifully spent the afternoon with it elevated and iced! While my loving hubby fetched me drinks and cooked dinner – thanks hubs, love you xx

A tiny glimmer of fortuity was that due to Storm Emma (the Beast from the East… seriously who thinks of these names?) my local parkrun was cancelled, as were many across the UK, so at least I wasn’t tempted into going!

Until next week, Kx
