Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.

via Hope — MakeItUltra™

Another fabulous quote shared by Make It Ultra blog.

Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.

We are all a product of our life experiences mashed up with genetics. Our life experiences can, in part, be determined by our choices (or those of our parents before we are old enough to choose for ourselves), but are also driven by chance/fate/biology/actions of others.

I haven’t yet written on resilience, but resilience influences how we deal with adversity and how we keep going despite the odds being stacked against us.

Resilience is our ability to shrug off mistakes without beating ourselves up about them forever.

Resilience is knowing when you had no control over whatever has happened.

Resilience is about forgiveness; forgiveness of yourself, forgiveness of others, of rogue cellular mutations, of infertility, of bereavement, loss, trauma.

Forgiveness of all the past hurts to allow yourself to move forward free from self-blame and recrimination.

The ability to look to the future; past the dark clouds, to the blue skies.

To live with hope.

To live with purpose.

To live with passion.

So beautifully said, Karen. Being hot blooded, I usually say a lot of things that I can’t take back when I’m angry. And I’m always feeling depressed after those times. What you said about forgiveness and resilience is what I really need to have right now.
