White Noise

White noise fills my ears

masking silence, like waves

lapping on shingle beaches.

A quiet summer’s day with

bees buzzing as they dance

on flowers collecting pollen.

Wind whistling through trees

humming and rustling as

raindrops fall silently down.

Sounds that we don’t hear

indistinct from silence

a cover of white noise.
