My wonderful lovely hubby is a cub leader and (as is often the way things happen) he’s away this weekend on camp with his cub pack. The timing isn’t great but I said he was fine to go as I’m just recuperating rather than being actively unwell. So, after he’d left yesterday evening and the teenagers were watching tv in their rooms (as teenagers do) I decided that I was going to try and get back to the world of normal living this weekend.
I came up with a list of goals, just small self-care tasks that I thought would be achievable and make me feel less like an invalid. I switched my mindset from being a passive patient to actively working my recovery.
I woke this morning feeling positive. I got up at about 7.30am instead of lazing around in bed. I got dressed in ‘normal’ clothes instead of sloppy comfy ones. I put my contact lenses in and added some jewellery… ready to join the human race again!
But not long after that I started feeling very nauseous and was actually sick. NHS choices advised to contact a doctor if vomiting occurs after a lumbar puncture, so I am currently awaiting a callback. I’m not overly concerned as my temperature is normal. I suspect it’s either a reaction to the antibiotics or simply that I moved around too much! But either way, I am temporarily back to passive patient.
Get well soon and rest and hydrate a lot
