Mental Crank

Seized up and rusted
One huge push and
The crank moves slowly
The handle creaking
Cogs grinding
Unwilling motion

Hello lovely readers,
I’m sure we all appreciate how careful maintenance of machinery prolongs its life and keeps it running smoothly, yet how many of us are less committed to carefully maintaining our body and mind?

As a cancer survivor I have a renewed commitment to keeping my mind and body in good condition. Self-care to me means a variety of things:

  • eating a healthy diet
  • being a healthy weight
  • exercising regularly
  • taking part in activities that are enjoyable or give a sense of accomplishment
  • keeping my mind active
  • minimising stress
  • avoiding toxic relationships
  • nurturing friendships

By taking an holistic approach towards maintaining my own health and well-being I will keep my body and mind running smoothly and prevent any metaphorical seizing up of my crank or cogs!

Have a healthy day 🙂
Karen xx

Having been thinking about the points you’ve mentioned, yet still struggling to get the ball rolling!

You don’t have to do them all at once! Start small and build from there. Focus on one goal, like drinking more water or meeting up with friends. Motivation isn’t always easy to find! Good luck and thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
