Tantrum (poem)

“NO” I scream and clench my fists
as angry tears pour down my cheeks
You ask once more, but I’m defiant
I bet you wish I was compliant
“Please” you say and offer bribes
a treat for me to toe the line
being stubborn, I stand my ground
engaging in the merry-go-round
of you say this, and I say that
unyielding, and no matter what
my mind is fixed, I won’t agree
to anything you ask of me
