The Hand of Fate (poem)

We want to know what the future holds
so we can plan and take control

But it seems that we aren’t truly free
to be in charge of our destiny

So much of life is out of our hands
cannot be swayed by wants and demands

It’s astonishing that we bother all
when fate steps in and drops the ball

Our world falls apart in front of our eyes
and nothing we do can rationalise

Or fix the damage that has been done
Why me? Why you? Why anyone?

Determinists believe we have no free will but our lives are predetermined by our past but you have struck a nice balance here which fits with how many feel about life.

It is a balance, we can only control what we can control. Things like hereditary or other illness is something to be dealt with as it occurs.
