This is likely to be a short running update as I haven’t actually done any this week due to my head injury/concussion. Had I been running I would have done 10k Race for Life on Wednesday, parkrun on Saturday and a couple of other runs too. Probably around 25-30k total.
However, this week I had my sensible head firmly attached to my shoulders and decided very early on that I would not be taking part in RFL or parkrun and that I would not be running until next week sometime at the very earliest.
I have been recovering, slowly at first, then more noticeably on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Thursday I went for a gentle walk and then on Friday I did two short walks, but by Friday evening I was feeling pretty dizzy again and so very tired. I think that two walks were pushing it a little, as on Saturday I still felt rather woozy. I marshalled at parkrun for the second time while my younger son smashed his previous PB and with a time of 29:11, his first sub-30 time! I am very proud of him… with his long legs he’ll soon be running faster times than me for sure!
I’m pleased that the Race for Life people have allowed me to transfer my place to a different run, so I’ll be doing that later in July instead. I’m hopeful to be back to parkrun next Saturday, but if not then I’ll just marshal again while my son goes for yet another PB!
Next week, I have loads of medical tests to see if there’s a simple cause to why I blacked out and banged my head, but it will be another week before the results are all back. Until then I’m going to ease my delicate being back into the world and keep everything crossed that I’m back to running again soon!
