Loss and life

I have just finished reading ‘Our Song’ by Dani Atkins, a novel encompassing themes of loss. I enjoyed this book, but was disappointed by the predictable and overly sentimental ending. Real life doesn’t always play out in a way that the bad stuff is compensated for by the good. That said, it did move me to tears as it resonated heavily with my own fears.

Loss is a huge factor in mental health. Bereavement, divorce, illness or injury leading to loss of physical ability or mental functioning, loss of trust, loss of faith, loss of hope.

No one knows exactly how life will progress, so we need to make the most of what is happening in our life right now, say ‘Yes!’ to that invitation, wear the sparkly red dress ‘just because’, appreciate the people in your life who make it a better place and step back from those who don’t. Make a conscious decision to live in the moment! And most of all enjoy it.

Love and positivity, K x
