Weekend catch up

Hi everyone,

I’ve had a busy week and it’s one of those weeks where I feel I’ve done nothing but actually been quite productive. At the moment my band are involved in a huge performance at the cathedral, we are providing the atmospheric sound effects, and with shows each evening except Sundays and a matinee on Saturdays it’s a big commitment. That said I have today off because I understand how important it is to rest my mind and body and not exert myself too much.

The big news obviously is that my book has been published and alongside that I have pre-empted the possibility of being more successful than I think I will be, so want to get all the admin and financial stuff under control early on. It was quite a boost to my self-esteem to switch my employment status from ‘unemployed: looking after the home and family’ to ‘self-employed author’. I’ve signed up for a free online accountancy service and have ordered a book on understanding taxes etc.

Throw in a bit of running and swimming, some poetry writing, lots and lots of laundry, and, of course, childcare responsibilities, and it all adds up to a busy/productive/tiring week. So I really don’t need to criticise myself for the things I haven’t done, they’ll just have to wait.
