A fairly quiet week on the running front as I’ve been away visiting family in the South West of England for a few days which meant two days with a fair bit of driving. However, I did do an early morning 10k to earn my August bling right at the beginning of the month while I was there.
Then parkrun on Saturday and a quick 5km this morning.
For the past four weeks I’ve been volunteering as the tail walker at my home parkrun, I’ve actually volunteered more than I’ve raced at my home run – twice marshalling, five times tail walking and only twice racing. Next Saturday I’m looking forward to trying out a new venue as a parkrun tourist, it will be my 4th different parkrun, I’m undecided which run I’m going to yet.
Since starting running I have accumulated a pretty decent amount of bling already, I love my medal hanger (Mother’s Day present) and have no doubt that I’ll continue with the races both virtual and real-life ones! I’ve just received the 10k Chase the Tunes medal (August challenge photo above) and am signed up for the Holiday 10k (anytime June to September). The Holiday 10k medal is a sandcastle image so I want to run this 10k along the promenade by the beach, probably on the Wirral coast, but possibly North Wales. I have also signed up to doing 50 miles in August which with school holidays won’t be as easy as non-school holiday months but definitely achievable.
I’m planning to complete a race every month in 2019, the majority will be 10k, there may be a few half marathons, and maybe (just maybe!) a marathon!!! But only one.
During August I’ll go to training as often as I can and try to join one of the club runs too. Once school term restarts I’ll be able to commit more regularly to running club as it will simply fit in alongside any other weekday evening plans. Hopefully!
