Empty Pages (poetic prompt: writing)

When I first started writing poetry my mind was flooded with ideas, phrases, words, titles that I just had to get working on before I lost the ability to write.   I would sit in the changing room at the pool typing my ideas into my phone, carry a notebook around with me to jot things down when they came to mind.

I’ve written poetry in waiting rooms, in the car, at the climbing wall, at the pool, in Costa.  I’ve written poetry that makes me cry and poetry that makes me laugh.

And now, I’m missing writing, I eagerly await September and back to school.  Back to my quiet mornings where I can immerse myself in creativity.  Just me, my brain and my laptop.

Poetic prompt: writing

Empty Pages

empty pages within
waiting for words
to trace their beauty
over pristine surfaces
an imprint of memories
and promises
fill these empty pages
as emotions flow
into poetry

  1. Hi, I came across your site, and I read this first (because it is first) I just wanted to say you have a lot of talent with your writing. And I feel the same way, when you just want to write or always have ideas flooding your brain writing those down to write about later. I look forward to reading more of your poetry!
