Book Review – Words from an Unlikely Poet

I first came across The Unlikely Poet, Charlie Hasler via his blog right here on WordPress not long after I had began my own poetic journey.  Having downloaded and read Words from an Unlikely Poet many months ago, it’s taken me becoming an author myself (psst did you know I’ve published a book?) to understand the true value of genuine reviews.

I promised Charlie that I’d re-read and review his book, so here it is.

This is an excellent debut collection of poetry from British poet, Charlie Hasler.

In this book the author writes on a spectrum of emotional experiences, from the deepest despair, such as in ‘Dead As January’, to the truest words of love in ‘Bluest Moon Rare’. His words will resonate with many leaving you with hope and inspiration.

It’s difficult to choose a favourite but ‘Astride The In Between’ is simply beautiful, with its gentle words flowing over you and mirroring the poem’s narrative… quite simply wonderful.

I look forward to reading The Unlikely Poet’s second collection which has recently been published.

A very worthy 5 stars.
