Following on from my post Mini-break wall art, in which I shared a selection of murals from my trip to the South-West of England, I am now sharing a much larger selection of murals and other interesting stuff from Hereford and the surrounding area… enjoy!
These murals were commissioned to mark the Millennium and show the town and hills beyond. The bird to the left in the first photo is a Red Kite which also features on the Abergavenny Tapestry.
And these for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
The coat of arms here is on The King’s Arms pub in Abergavenny, it dates from 1660 and is that of King Charles II. The pub itself is thought to be the oldest coaching inn in Wales.
The former Blaenavon Ironworks is a World Heritage Site owing to its importance in the Industrial Revolution and its role in the advancement of iron and steel production.
It has fantastic corroded signs depicting processes used at the ironworks.
