Blogging about blogging (1)

For the next 10 days I will be ‘Blogging about blogging’, specifically about branding and growth.  When I upgraded my WordPress account, I was directed to The Daily Post’s course on Branding and Growth.  It’s a ten day course which will help me make my blog more relevant to my goals.

Day 1 tasks me to set three goals for my blog.  This is difficult as I honestly don’t have a direction in mind.  Blogging to me isn’t about the numbers but if I want to use my blog as a means to get my poetry read then I guess numbers matter, so yes, increasing followers or views would be good.  However, I think more importantly I need to focus on the content of my blog which has become very random lately!

Three blogging goals related to being a writer/author/poet

Goal 1:  add new poetry posts once weekly

Goal 2:  add a monthly book review feature

Goal 3:  redesign website to include sections on poetry, book reviews and running

Two blogging goals related to numbers

Goal 1:  achieve 500 followers by year end

Goal 2:  increase views per month to 2,000 by year end

Current blog numbers

WordPress Followers:  408

Views per month:  1,200 for August (but was 1,900 in May)

Have a great day, more on ‘Blogging about blogging’ tomorrow!

Good luck! I think we’ve all seen a drop in views recently. A friend who was blogging last year said the same thing happened last summer and that things should pick up again when people are less busy. 🤞
