Weightless

obligations
memories
fears
you sink
like a stone to the ocean floor
gravity pulls you down
drowning in dark depths
gasping for air
for the warmth of sunlight on your skin
to be weightless
to be free
impossible
to forget
to not care
to float untethered
and weightless

Being weightless

An impossible ideal to strive for as John Donne writes in No Man is an Island
  – “Every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.

We do not exist in isolation, we cannot be free from the burdens of life, work, family, bills, home.  Yet, we can free ourselves from the burdens we place upon ourselves, the unrealistic expectations that we have to be better and do more.

Accepting ourselves as good enough regardless of achievements or success.

Without comparison to others or trying to meet their standards.

Knowing that we are doing our best and that is ok.
