Time for an Oscars style speech!
Thank you everyone for following my blog, I can’t believe I now have 500 followers on WordPress, almost 600 on Twitter, we won’t mention my Facebook page (53) and there’s also a handful of email followers too (hi Mum!) 🙂
Let’s talk about serendipity, it’s a great word which means gaining a fortuitous outcome from a chance occurrence – that’s my definition. An official one reads: the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
Serendipity perfectly describes how chance events have led to me becoming a published poet (as per today’s earlier post).
If I hadn’t had cancer I may not have had such a severe long lasting depression and may not have been referred for psychological therapy.
If I hadn’t had EMDR then I wouldn’t have developed such a great insight, understanding and, crucially, acceptance of my own mental illness.
Without this understanding I may not have signed up for a fundraising/awareness raising challenge for Mind (mental health charity).
If I hadn’t joined RED Jan and hadn’t accepted that it was ok to have depression/PTSD then I wouldn’t have started my blog.
And if I hadn’t started my blog I wouldn’t have written poetry inspired by our canal walk back on a frosty winter’s day in January.
If I hadn’t had cancer…
I wouldn’t have connected with this awesome community, all 500 of you!
I wouldn’t be a poet and I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
So, thank you all for your contribution to me becoming me ❤
