Why, oh why, do I? (poem)

Why, oh why, must I always try
to be better than I was before

And why should I know that taking it slow
means less is actually more

And how do I keep the voice in my head
from spurring me to go on

And why is the pain so often ignored
until the best time to stop has gone

Any guesses what this little poem is relating to?

I have been taking it easy, I have been using my crutches, I have been resting… there really has been too much resting.

Today is the start of child 2’s half term.  I decided that we’d go to the cinema – see lots of sitting down and resting my leg – I put my crutches in the car but as I was able to park really close to the cinema I thought I’d be ok to limp over without them as I’d been managing really well around the house.  Whether it was too far, or I fidgeted in my seat too much, or maybe I walked (shuffled) a little too fast I’m not sure, but I do know that I now have a burning sensation in my injured calf… just ouch!

We really enjoyed the movie, The Hate U Give, great storyline, brilliantly acted and very sensitive to the subject.

Tomorrow will involve sitting, baking a chocolate brownie cake followed by more sitting!

My total step count is averaging at about half a mile a day! Have been on my feet a lot this morning but now in my favourite legs up on the sofa laptop position! 😀
