It’s now been nine long weeks since my last run and while my injury has definitely improved I’m fairly certain that I won’t be running again before late January. However, as mentioned last week I have been using my enforced recovery time well. My den is looking great and I’m so excited to have this space of my own to work in, but more on that in another post.
This week I had my follow up physio appointment. He’s pleased with my progress and has given me some additional stretches and gym work to add to what I’m already doing. He said to keep going with the physio exercises and doing short walks and to include some up and down hill sections. We talked about how swimming wasn’t actually helpful and how gym was. I asked about whether it was better to increase speed or resistance on the bike, cross trainer etc, as I was uncertain if one was better or if one was ill-advised but he said either was fine but not both at the same time. I see him again mid-January when we can hopefully come up with a plan to get me running and 10k ready for March.
I feel that I haven’t done a lot physical this week, but I actually have, it’s just a disparity between how much I like to do and how much I am able to do.
- two gym sessions (cross trainer and bike)
- physio exercises
- walk with a friend
- dancing at Chester’s Winterwatch parade to the awesome music of my samba band
- and some aimless mooching around shops
