My running week (51)

Next week will be my last running update of 2018, unbelievable when I think of what I’ve achieved this year.  But for now I’ll focus on this week.

I have:

  • been on four walks of varying distance and speed, total of about 12 miles
  • included hills in my walking routes
  • had a very intense gym session including bike, cross-trainer and rowing machine

And made a welcome return to parkrun! Accompanied by my younger son, I had hoped to complete the 5k in around 50 minutes at a fast paced walk.  My son ran until he got out of breath and then alternated run/walking while I speed walked the whole 5k.  I finished in just under 42 minutes which I was very pleased with and best of all it didn’t seem to have any detrimental effect on my calf.  There’s a parkrun on Christmas Day which I’m planning on doing, again speed walking.

Also I’ve moved up to the next level of physio exercises, which I’m very happy about! It’s been a great week for my recovery and I’m starting to see the possibility of starting to run again, still a little way in the distance but definitely there!
