Apparently, it’s a thing…

Until today I didn’t know that going to the cinema on Christmas Eve was a thing.  A few weeks back I promised the boys that we’d go to see the second Fantastic Beasts movie on Christmas Eve.  I didn’t book tickets because I foolishly thought that no one would bother going to the cinema today, it’s Christmas Eve surely it’s not a thing to go to the cinema on Christmas Eve.

There were four showings of the film, the early one we didn’t make as the boys weren’t up and ready.  We arrived over an hour early for the lunch time show to allow time to get tickets etc.  Driving to the very, very far end of the car park – why’s it so busy?

Ah, the film is pretty much fully booked, and the later showings too.  Unusually for our children they accepted that we would simply go another day over the holidays.  Typically for our older son, he wanted to know which day.

We had a Costa, wandered around the shops, tried on running shoes (found out my gait isn’t neutral and neither’s my running buddy’s), bought a dress which turned out to be sleepwear (looks like a dress to me!), and came home to have a late buffet lunch and watch Die Hard 2 – having introduced the boys to the original and awesome Die Hard last night.

Movie finished both boys immersed themselves in their game screens and proceeded to ignore us for the rest of the day.  Ah well, at least it was quiet for a while.

Wishing you and your families a magical Christmas!
