RED January was the challenge that prompted me to try running, and in turn was responsible for the creation of this blog so it seemed appropriate that I sign up for RED again this year.
The aim of RED January is to commit to being active each day in January, it can be running, walking, a class at the gym, yoga, cycling, or anything else that ticks the active box. As I’m still (yawn) recovering from injury I’ve decided to complete my RED January challenge by walking a minimum of two miles each day. In addition I’ve signed up for a cumulative challenge to complete 100 miles throughout January; for me these miles will be achieved through walking, cycling, parkrun and gym.
The other aim of RED January is to raise awareness of mental illness and raise funds for Mind. I will be making an individual donation at the end of the month.
At this point in time my mental health is good, not perfect but certainly good enough. Sadly, it’s my physical health running injuries that’s more problematic… will I ever learn to give sufficient time for recovery?
I’m not intending on doing a daily update on RED as it will be incorporated in my Sunday running update, however I may waffle around the subject as I see fit, after all it is my blog and it’s a new year and my writing break is officially over… yay!
