If a cow has horns (Poem 2019 – 3)

If a cow has horns
on the top of its head
and a shiny ring through its nose
is it really a cow with its soft brown eyes
or a dangerous bull to avoid

If a fish has teeth
as it swims round the sea
its eyes show a menacing glare
is it really a fish with a predatory look
or a scary shark, beware

If a person is smiling
does it mean they’re happy
does their smile reach into their eyes
can you see what is really troubling them
or are they hiding their sorrow inside
