Fear is a Prison (Poem 2019 – 10)

fear is a prison
a hostage taker
a dream breaker
heavy chains shackle ambition
to hard stone floors

break free

with dreams held hostage
the sky wide open
and out of reach
strangled desire
bound by inertia

break free from the chains that bind
look to the sky and send your dreams soaring

fear is a prison . . .
. . . but you have the key

  2. Invisibly Me says:

Captures fear, indecision, procrastination, that stuck-in-a-rut feeling – “strangled desire, bound by inertia”.The final liner cinches this perfectly.x
