4am silence (Poem 2019 – 14)

cloaked in night’s shadows
swaddled in silence but for the ticking clock
and the gentle rumble of an aeroplane
overhead
glowing street lights cast shadows
on whitewashed walls
as wayward cats slink stealthily
home
comforted by cosy warm beds
and the sound of the ticking clock

Your poem is lovely and peaceful. Makes me long for my bed, but I have more writing to do before I can sleep.

Thanks you. I’m up (now 5am UK time) because I have an eye infection and can’t sleep… however I always get a lot of writing done when insomnia strikes!

Oh! I hope your eye clears up. Eye infections are no fun.
