Valentine (Poem 2019 – 16)

For all the smooshy romantics out there, this poem is dedicated to my lovely hubby who I met at university when I was just 20 years old ❤

stay by my side
and in my heart
with love like ours
we’ll never part
you have the key
to unlock my joy
it’s been this way
since you were a boy
so young when we met
it surely won’t last
we’d soon forget
a history past
defying the odds
hand in hand
decades later
together we stand
your life and mine
coupled as one
we breathe together
and share the same sun
a light within
for all our days
until we’re old
and sunset fades
