So it would seem that painting is my next obsession. No, I haven’t finished the quilting project I was so enthusiastic about in January, and no I haven’t finished the crochet baby blanket that I’ve been working on for months. Little Miss likes to master new things is busy being a budding Monet or some such.
Having stocked up on paper, paints and brushes, and already having a book to guide me means there’s really no barriers to me entering the art world.
This morning I visited the local art gallery with younger son who is on half term this week, armed with the smallest amount of watercolour knowhow I was able to critique (appreciate!) certain aspects of the paintings, I was also able to critique (question) whether the artists use of light and shade gave enough contrast… ha! There’s a saying that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing therefore I’ve just became the silent assassin of the art world.
Also this morning we popped in to the library where I borrowed two books on art, two poetry and the biography of Jessica Ennis. I’m now very excitedly hoping for atrocious weather this weekend so I can sit in my den reading, writing, painting and generally being creative.
Anyway, I’ve also been busy with another watercolour.

BTW all my paintings so far are in a teensy tiny A6 book. I’ve bought A4 and bigger paper but I’m too nervous to attempt anything bigger yet!
Looks great.

Good job, Karen! Was this from RL, imagination or book?

From a book, separate guidance for the vase and a simple flower. I’m learning to draw too!
