Patchwork quilting

Having been unwell since the early hours of Thursday morning. Thursday and Friday disappeared in a haze of Pjs and movies. Saturday morning arrived and I felt a little better, still some stomach pain but well enough to spend my day doing something gentle rather than merely lazing on the sofa. And that something I decided was sewing.

It’s been a couple of months since I put away my patchwork in favour of other creative endeavours, painting I imagine. So was very happy to get started again, and pleased to see that I had only four friendship stars to construct so that I could complete the central section.

I would love to write that I cut and pieced these without issue, but in reality I cut some pieces the wrong size and then some the wrong colour. However by about 4pm I had all the blocks ready to assemble.

Easy right; four rolling pinwheel blocks in the centre surrounded by sixteen friendship stars. Quite possibly my husband was ready to divorce me as each arrangement had something I wasn’t happy with. Two stars of the same colour together, too much pink on one side etc, totally reasonable in my mind but less so in his. After about twenty times of rearranging I decided that it was ok, hubby probably thought at bloomin last!

And by 10pm it was assembled and ready to add the border.

  1. That’s so awesome! I don’t know if it’s because I watched too many American TV shows as a kid where there were often patchwork quilts & blankets around, but I’ve always wanted one. Not to make one, I don’t have anywhere near the skill for that, but to have one. I love the design, it looks fantastic, Karen! xx

    1. You would easily learn, as with most things practice is the key! I never imagined I’d be able to crochet at first, but determination won that battle!
BTW I’m sure you can buy or commission a ready made one 🙂
