At the start of June I had hoped my half marathon training would begin to take some kind of shape, maybe following a plan. However, it was soon apparent that my brain wasn’t able to organise itself into scheduling a formal plan. The beginning of the month was a bit of a slow start while managing hip and shin pain, and I only did four runs totalling 14 miles. Following a week long rest which seemed to do little for my pains I thought stuff it and decided to keep going with training, and in the second half of June completed nine runs and 39 miles.
Stats for June
- no. of runs: 13
- total distance: 52.9 miles
- total time: 10.5 hours
- total distance: 195.2 miles
- no. of parkruns: 15 (incl. 6 as tail walker)
- parkrun volunteer: 10 times (also incl. 6 as tail walker)
Next week I’m, maybe foolishly, taking part in three races; 5k on Wednesday, 5k on Saturday, 10k on Sunday. My aim is to run the whole distance and to finish each race, I’m not pushing it and I don’t anticipate great times, for me it’s about building up my tolerance and stamina – it should be a great week!
Have fun y’all!
