Two day shred (vegan weight loss)

I’ve been wanting to tackle my non-running weight gain for a while. Each day starting with good intentions but each day failing to keep to it. Or at best managing a couple of days before it all falls apart.

But you’re not fat?

No, I’m not a larger lady. My dress size is a 10-12 (UK) which is good but I’m not happy with my body, specifically around my middle, and that’s the problem.

Following yesterday’s race I’m not in a position to do much other than hobble around the house today as my legs remind me that it’s been a while since they’ve worked that hard. So I am, at last, taking the time to do something about my weight.

A while ago I joined a vegan weight loss group on Facebook but hadn’t really taken the time to look at the resources, recipes etc. Today and tomorrow I’m following the two day shred and kick starting my commitment!

There are rules and there is structure, so as long as I follow the plan it should be good.

Firstly, half an hour before breakfast I had to have a warm ‘tea’ of turmeric, lemon juice and ginger. It tasted a little better than I’d expected but I only managed about two-thirds of it.

Breakfast was a choice of quinoa pear porridge or carrot cake porridge, as I had pears but no carrots in the house the pear porridge won.  This is made by cooking the quinoa in plant milk and water, adding cinnamon, vanilla, chopped pear, chia seeds and walnuts.  It made enough for two days, although whether it will be as palatable tomorrow is concerning me.  The taste was ok, my pears weren’t very ripe so the porridge wasn’t very sweet but it was a huge bowl so will certainly keep me from feeling hungry for a few hours.  I would happily make and eat this again.

The rest of the day’s plan is to have protein shakes and water half an hour before lunch and the same before dinner.  Lunch is soup, I’ve chosen pea soup, as well as lettuce wraps filled with houmous and salad veg.  Dinner is a choice of ratatouille or salad, and there are afternoon and evening snacks of fruit and nuts.  I’m not sure I’ll be able to eat all that in one day!

I HATE it when I mention my diet and people say “but you’re not fat!” Right, and eating the way I eat is why! Lol. I also found that when sticking to a diet it was actually harder to eat a lot but you adjust eventually. Good work! Can’t wait to hear about the progress.

I just need more discipline and less snacking and I’d be fine!

Not snacking is definitely what helped me, plus I fast from 8pm to lunch the next day. It was hard at first but I got used to it. If I do snack now, I have learned to love cucumber spears and yogurt!

I think I just have to want the flat tummy more than I want the chocolate! I’ll get there somehow. Thanks for reading x
