Watercolour: Eyemouth, Scotland

In August we had a week away staying in the Scottish Borders near a pretty little harbour town called Eyemouth.

This row of buildings along the harbour wall caught my eye as a potential watercolour subject.

I sketched the outline of the buildings a few weeks ago, concentrating so hard gave me a headache and I wasn’t happy with the perspective. Then last week (when our kitchen was being tiled) I decided to paint it anyway and tweak it as I progressed.

Considering I was planning on starting the whole thing over, I’m actually extremely pleased with the outcome. I know my roof angles, building widths, and window sizes aren’t precise copies of the photograph but that’s art! And, I guess, I’m an artist!
