Developing my business

Yes, I know that sounds very grand! Last year I was doing well with writing and to some extent with promoting my work. I was active on various poetry sites, submitting to magazines etc., driving interest through pinterest and twitter. But then it all stopped. My head became overwhelmed with the mundanities of life and my interest (focus) switched to other creative pursuits – art and sewing.

I took up watercolour painting with an idea that I could create poetry/art posters, cards etc. That I could go to craft fairs and the like, and actually have some level of income. And this is still my longer term aim.

Short term, however, I need a more simplistic approach. An approach that requires less planning. Last year I did a stall at our village’s Christmas event but it was very last minute and rushed. Yesterday, I decided to try again this year, but with more lead time. So, today I’ve been trying to make watercolour cards and scanning/printing of my images… and the vagaries of technology!

oh and I’m trying to set up an etsy store!

  1. SUCH a good idea, and these watercolours look fantastic as cards! I must admit I’ve actually never used Etsy (shock horror!) but from what I’ve heard it would be a good place to set up shop. I echo Ashley – exciting times! xx
