My running week (Y2-41)

Last week was left on a bit of a cliffhanger, would I be fit enough to take part in the first Borders League race in Caernarfon?

So, how did my week go?  Well firstly I had a mini-brainwave.  Since around July I’ve been using a supportive insole in my right shoe which was helping, but I suddenly thought what if my leg strength and therefore ankle stability has improved due to physio and that now the support was too much?  I decided to test this on Monday evening and went out for a run with the shoes regular insoles in place.  I just did 2.5 miles only slowing my pace to cross roads and got home feeling everything was relatively ok.

On Wednesday, I wanted to do a longer run to really test my leg, aiming for 4.5 – 5 miles in 10 minute intervals, I put on my ankle support ‘sock’ and took it steady.  Again there was some pain but certainly no worse than if I’d been using the insoles.  The end result being that I was confident in taking part in the race today.

And hopefully it will go ok.
