Masterpiece (Poem 2019 – 43)

Recently I’ve been reading my poetry books, specifically meaning MY poetry books, and I was wowed by some fantastic poems within them!  It’s been such a long time since writing them it had all become blurred in my mind.

If you lovely people are fortunate enough to already own one (or both) of my books, then please set aside half an hour of your day to take yourself on a journey with my words.  If you don’t yet possess a copy then Amazon is the place to go.

Next month marks five years since my diagnosis with breast cancer, I would never once wish that I’d had cancer but the experience has changed me in ways I almost cannot describe.

I am not cancer but in a strange way cancer has made me who I am now.

From the darkness of despair
A flickering candle, once extinguished
Comes alive with a golden glow
This light is the light
Which emanates from within
And shines with a radiance
Bright as the midday sun

A light of warmth and clarity
A peaceful stillness
As dreams and ambitions renew
A future written in the past
But there to edit and sculpt
And create into a masterpiece

The masterpiece that is you
