Meeting (Poem 2019 – 51)

A couple of months ago I connected with a local poet, Alison, and we did a book review trade, you can read my review here.  Today we are meeting up in person, and I’m really looking forward to it, hopefully we can mutually inspire each other and learn new things.

“A stranger is a friend you haven’t met”

Stepping away from the boundaries
of what is known
and comfortable
seeking anxiety and fear
the what ifs circling my mind
like sharks circling the ocean
waiting for that one drop
of blood to spark a feeding frenzy

creative minds connecting
over coffee, cake
and cheerful chatter
anxiety is soon lost to laughter
the sharks disband
there’s nothing to feed on
as the unknown becomes known
and friendship blooms
